Letter to Parents

Dear Church Family,

Welcome to the First Parish Young People's Religious Education Program. This program encompasses a variety of activities including Sunday classes, Sunday worship, family events and social service projects.

Our Religious Education Program for Youth is offered through our Cooperative Church School. All parents are expected to share in carrying out the various jobs and tasks throughout the year to make our church school program happen. The cooperative nature of our program creates a dynamic and active atmosphere of learning, growing and caring.

Notes About Our Church School Routines

  1. Church School begins at 10:30 and ends at 11:50.
  2. Toddlers (1-3 yrs) should be picked up at 11:30 in Room 4. Nurturing Circle children (3 yrs. to Grade 1) should be picked up promptly at 11:50 in their classrooms. Older children will be dismissed on their own at 11:50.
  3. The first Sunday of each month is Family Sunday. Young people (3 yrs. through Grade 8) attend church with their families for the beginning of the service. They then leave for their regular church school classes.
  4. Parents are urged to keep their infants with them in church or in the Parlor, which has a speaker system that allows them to hear the service.
Chapel Times:
Grades 2-6 have Chapel at 11:30.
Three years through Grade 1 have Chapel at 10:35.
Parents are welcome at our Chapel Services at any time.

We need the help of all parents
Religious education at First Parish Church is a family affair. There are several ways you can help, which are explained on the registration form; serving on the Religious Education Committee is encouraged. Please check with the Director of Religious Education, Sunsue Fleming (781-934-6532), if you have not registered or if you have any questions. The church school is for children from toddlers through Grade 12. Parents of infants are invited to keep their infant with them in the Meeting House during the service or in the Parlor where they can listen to the service.

The year's curriculum is divided into three units: Unit I is September to November; Unit II December to February, and Unit III March to May. We do not charge a registration fee for our religious education program. Your annual pledge to the church operating budget is essential to this program. We are looking forward to working with you and your children. Let's all make this a great year!
